Important Update

Following the most recent Government Announcement today, Friday 20th March, we wanted to take the time to give our Students an update on what this means for Endeavour.

As you all know we have been extremely focused on being the cleanest and most positive place to be in this unsettling time.

However, following the most recent guidelines as advised we will be closing as soon as reasonably possible.

We know so many of you have thanked us for staying open as long as possible, and have valued coming to Endeavour over the recent weeks benefitting you not only physically but mentally too, which we feel so important.

We also know how extremely hard you have worked towards your grading, not just over these past few months, but for some of you what has been years in the making.

Therefore, after discussing this with many of our valued parents and students, whilst there will be no regular classes as of this evening, for the foreseeable future, which in keeping with guidelines will be regularly reviewed, we will be continuing with gradings as the guidelines allow.

However, gradings will be strictly closed to only the students testing and will be on invitation only.

The numbers have been significantly decreased over each grading to avoid close proximity throughout,
and as always, we will be ensuring the strictest of hygiene, handwashing etc upon entry to the academy.

Parents please arrive at the academy where you will be allowed to drop your child off, and collect them along with their hopefully positive news at the end of grading.

However, with a very small number of little champions testing, we will of course allow one parent to stay whilst adhering to social distancing advice in our waiting area.

Further to this, it is with a heavy heart we must make the decision for graduation this time not to go ahead as planned, however we will make sure a huge celebration takes place on future date.

Following gradings, we are excited to be offering a variety of virtual classes for all of our members ensuring you can keep up with your training. This is something we have been working hard towards over recent weeks, and something we are working hard to finalise as soon as possible. For now, please enjoy and take part in the online challenges we have on our social media and we are excited to share the details of further virtual classes with you in the coming days.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to each and everyone one of our students, parents and Endeavour family for you continued support in what is understandably an unsettling time for everyone. We honestly can’t thank you enough!

Stay safe, happy, fit and look after your mental health! We look forward to seeing you all on the mats as soon as possible!

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update – March 16

In response to the information provided by the Government & Health Authorities, we understand that you may be feeling unsettled given the rapidly changing situation around COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Please be reassured the health and safety of our students, family and team is our number one priority. It is our aim to keep providing classes and regular training sessions for all of our students but of course at the same time ensuring that all students, friends & family are safe, healthy and happy whilst at the academy.

In addition to the precautions and ramped up cleaning procedures detailed last week we will also be implementing the following to ensure we can continue to safely provide all our students with the best training in order to boost their fitness, health & progress to Blackbelt.

– Adapted class drills to limit close contact & amount of equipment used whilst still ensuring techniques can be taught & learnt effectively in order to prepare for grading.

– NO KIDS BJJ CLASS THIS WEDNESDAY 18TH MARCH (6.00-6.30) – this will now be an extra Catch Up class for all levels; perfect prep for grading

– NO ADULTS BJJ CLASS THIS THURSDAY 19TH MARCH (8.00-8.45)

– Re-structured Graduation (Saturday 28th March 2020) to ensure all successful students can celebrate with friends & family in the safest way (more details regarding this will follow)

Our classes have no more than 25 students in each class and we are still in the midst of preparing our at home training classes and workouts should a worst case scenario arise.

We still urge anyone with symptoms to avoid classes or should you present with any symptoms, just as you would with any other illness, and as always please continue to practice good hygiene as this is always important for everyone. Remember to use hand soap and thoroughly wash your hands while singing happy birthday to yourself twice.

We would like to thank all the Endeavour Family for their continued support as we work together to overcome these challenges, and we will continuously work to the Government guidelines and update everyone as and when required through our website and social media pages.

Martial Arts is a great benefit for not only physical but also mental health, for many easing anxiety through training. In what is understandably a very unsettling time for some, please speak to a member of our team if you have any further concerns.

A huge thank you once again for all your support.

Coronavirus … What Team Endeavour are Doing…

Dear Endeavour Family,

We understand that you may be feeling concerned about Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

In light of the rise across Europe and the confirmed cases in Yorkshire, we wanted to share with you how we are proactively working to ensure the academy is as safe as possible for you, your family and our team.

Here are some of the measures we are taking:

- We have ramped up our cleaning throughout Endeavour, to include more regular sanitising of furniture, equipment and the mats.

-The team will work together to perform extra cleaning tasks in high-traffic areas, especially between classes, including wiping door handles, sinks, taps and door locks.

- We encourage anyone who comes to the studio to wash their hands before and after classes.

- Disinfecting wipes will be conveniently located throughout for you to wipe down your phones, tablets, computers, sparring gear, and whatever else you need.

We all have a role to play in protecting those most vulnerable in our society from Coronavirus, and all other illnesses and being part of the Endeavour Family gives us an amazing opportunity to help everyone understand the need to remain calm, have a positive outlook and be supportive towards others.

If you, or your child is ill, however mildly, we ask that you take some time out and rest at home until you are all well. Of course, if you have recently travelled to any of the high risk areas we ask that you stay at home and follow the NHS and government guidelines regarding self-isolation.

Remember, that we actively encourage everyone to make up missed classes once they are feeling better, and we as a team will support you in all ways possible to get you back on track.

As an extra precaution, we would encourage our grandparents and the elderly to be extra careful and to consider whether their visit to Endeavour is absolutely necessary for their own wellbeing.

Practising good hygiene is always important for everyone, so good hand washing routines are great skills that everyone can benefit from. Remember to use hand soap and thoroughly wash your hands while singing happy birthday to yourself twice.

Alcohol hand sanitisers can be effective when hand washing facilities aren’t available, so feel free to use your own during class if you have one to hand. Research however suggests that hand washing properly is more effective, hence why we will ensure that all toilets have plenty of soap for you.

The NHS also advise to avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, and should you cough or sneeze please catch It with a tissue, put it in the bin and then wash your hands.

To ensure the health of everyone in class we will be replacing high-5s, or handshakes with elbow 5’s and air high 5’s.

We will be adding discussions during our mat chats that will support our efforts to keep everyone focused and healthy. We will be reminding students to wash their hands frequently and to stay home if they feel even a little bit ill. We will also be discussing the need to be compassionate and not to seek to single anyone out who appear to be ill.

At such a time we feel it’s important to show support to those who need it most. You could call an elderly relative, isolation can be lonely and distressing for some, or offer to fetch shopping for them and leave it by their door.

We understand that the situation may develop further over the coming days, weeks and months and we want to assure everyone that the team have a comprehensive plan in place to ensure everyone is supported.

By working together we can overcome this challenge and continue to be empowered by the martial arts.

Thank you for all your support.

Team Endeavour.
